Message from Head of Department

Dear Students,

Dear Colleagues and Prospective Scholars,

On behalf of the Department of Nanotechnology Engineering, I am pleased to welcome you and to offer a brief overview of our department.

The rapidly growing global nanotechnology market, through materials science and consequently across a wide range of fields such as defense, machinery, automotive, space and aerospace, electronics, energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, environmental technologies, food science, agriculture, and advanced manufacturing, demonstrates an increasing demand for highly qualified nanotechnology engineers who can contribute to all stages of research, design, development, characterization, scale-up, production, and commercialization processes. Nanotechnology is an inherently interdisciplinary field that integrates principles from a wide range of engineering disciplines — including metallurgical and materials, chemical, mechanical, electrical and electronics, computer, environmental, and biomedical engineering — as well as from the fundamental sciences such as materials science, physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics. Together, these fields enable the design, analysis, and understanding of systems at the nanoscale.

Our department is committed to excellence in both education and research. We offer a comprehensive undergraduate curriculum that integrates strong theoretical foundations with extensive laboratory experience, ensuring the development of both analytical and practical skills. Beyond formal coursework, students are encouraged to engage in industrial and academic internships, participate in research projects and seminars, and collaborate with peers at both national and international levels.

In addition to our commitment to student education, our department actively welcomes applications from outstanding national and international researchers and academic scholars. We are dedicated to fostering a vibrant, collaborative, and globally connected research environment that supports innovative and high-impact work across the diverse areas of nanotechnology engineering. We encourage scholars from academia and industry to join us in advancing research, education, and technological development. We look forward to building strong academic partnerships.

We maintain active partnerships with industry and worldwide research institutions, providing opportunities for internships, joint projects, and exposure to real — world applications of nanotechnology. These experiences are designed to enhance your professional development and prepare you for careers in academia, industry, or advanced studies.

Should you have any questions or need academic guidance, our faculty and administrative staff are here to support you. We wish you a successful and rewarding academic journey.

With warm regards,

Pelin TÖREN ÖZGÜN
